Creative Producer, Interpretation Specialist

Amy Freesun is a creative producer and interpretation specialist dedicated to reimagining the museum experience. With a strong focus on community-generated content, she creates exhibitions and experiences that invite cross-cultural dialogue and personal connection.

During her tenure at the Portland Museum of Art, Amy developed new approaches to integrating community voices across temporary and permanent exhibitions. Her projects range from developing the multimodal interpretation for Passages in American Art to producing short films, participatory installations, and interactive guides. Across these formats, she creates context that complicates dominant narratives, brings multiple perspectives into conversation, and connects art with broader social histories.

Drawing on her fine arts background and expertise in multimedia storytelling, Amy works across exhibition interpretation, film, audio, and participatory experiences. Whether working with Indigenous thought leaders, emerging local artists, or high school students, she translates ideas and perspectives into experiences that are accessible, engaging, and designed to open up new ways of encountering art.
