LOVE Carnival
The Love Carnival was a vibrant celebration of creativity and community, featuring performances, participatory art, and immersive experiences on Peaks Island in Maine. This prismatic event transported attendees into a fanciful world that activated all of the senses. Artist Pamela Moulton contributed an evolving textile installation, which she continued to build throughout the event while inviting guests to participate in its creation. Music wove through the carnival as art band Sidebody played, while artists blending contemporary dance and clowning moved through the crowd to the sounds of a jazz quintet led by Ana Laura Quinn.
Attendees engaged in hands-on art activities facilitated by Love Lab Studio, creating fairy wands and wearable pieces using natural materials. Other one-on-one encounters included aura portraits by Hannah Day, experimental caricatures by Spenser, and tarot readings by Gwen. Two bounce houses, lawn games, and an old-school photo booth added to the playful atmosphere. Each guest also received a custom-designed coloring book and activity guide that provided another way to explore the Carnival.
"An unforgettable experience filled with joy and artistic expression."
Food from Mr. Tuna and Greeks on Peaks rounded out the festivities. A variety show brought together dance, music, and interactive performances before the Carnival culminated in a DJ-led dance party. Together, these elements transformed the landscape into a playful, participatory environment where guests could move between making, watching, performing, and celebrating.
